Music Video Night ยท last updated September 15, 2026
Short version: Music Video Night has no accounts and no servers of ours. We don't collect, store or transmit your personal data. What happens at your Night stays on the phones in the room.
When you play, you enter a display name and pick an emoji avatar. During a Night, your name, avatar, the video you pick, your chat messages, your reactions and your vote are sent directly to the other phones taking part, over your local WiFi or Bluetooth using Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework, which encrypts data in transit. This information is not sent to us, and there is no server in the middle.
Your display name and avatar are saved on your device so you don't have to re-enter them. Finished Nights โ the theme, who played, the videos and the results โ are saved to your device's local history so you can look back at them. You can delete any saved Night from inside the app, and deleting the app removes all of it.
Nothing. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising, no tracking, no crash reporting service, and no third-party data collection built into the app.
Music videos play through YouTube's official embedded player. When a video plays, your device communicates with YouTube (Google) directly, and Google may collect information in line with its own policies. That connection is between your device and Google โ we neither see nor receive it. See the Google Privacy Policy. Music Video Night is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.
The optional one-time "Unlock Everything" purchase is handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or receive your payment details. Whether the unlock is active is determined by asking Apple's StoreKit on your device.
Chat messages and video picks are written by the people you're playing with. Messages pass through an offensive-word filter on device, the host can remove anyone from a Night, and you can report or block a player. Because there is no server, we cannot see or moderate a Night ourselves โ moderation happens in the room, on the devices taking part.
Music Video Night is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because players choose their own videos and write their own chat messages, we recommend it for ages 12 and up.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
